Individual farmer Ashot Ghazaryan started in 2015 in the village of Artavan in Vayots Dzor region. The enterprise has 25 hectares of lands for organic cultivation. In the last two years the company has been cultivating spelt wheat, and plans to found an organic cooperative that will unite co-villagers to grow organic apricot orchard on around 60 hectares land lot. In case of a success it will be Armenia’s largest organic apricot orchard.
In August 2017 most part of the cultivated land, including the crops, were engulfed by fires, which was a consequence of forest fires erupted in Artavan. The works to eliminate the consequences of the fire are not completed yet.
